About the center

Irkutsk diagnostic centre (founded on July 10, 1999) is an independent medico prophylactic institution that provides highly skilled diagnostic, consultative and medical aid to the citizens of Irkutsk region as well as other regions of Russia and even foreign countries.

Under the financial support of Eximbank of Japan, Irkutsk and Irkutsk region budgets, it became possible to construct this medical institution and provide it with modern equipment. Today, IDC is included in the top five medical organizations of Russiaò Federation.

Irkutsk diagnostic centre is equipped with the most modern and unique medical equipment of the world leading producers, which allows carry out medical-diagnostic process at the high quality level: Toshiba, Alokha, Olimpus, Nikhon Koden, Phukuda, Sacura (Japan), Beckman - Kultar, Lunar (USA), Philips, Marquette HELLIGE GE, Leika, Erich Jaeger (Germany), Rosh (Switzerland), etc.

IDC contains

8 medical-diagnostic departments - Ultrasound, Radiology, Endoscopy, Functional Diagnostics, Laboratory, Phatomorphology and Cytologic, Consulting (or Policlinic), and Short-Stay Hospital. IDC applys 1000 various medical-diagnostic methods, 253 of wich are unique for the Irkutsk region. Every day Irkutsk Diagnostic Center serves about 1500 patients from Irkutsk city, Irkutsk region, other regions of Russian Federation, China, Mongolia, and other countries.

For 5 years, about 700,000 patients have been served and more than 2 million examinations and analyses have been carried out in IDC.
The main working principles of the centre are oncological and earliest morphological diagnosis verification at an out-patient stage. Due to such approach, 22% oncological disease cases are discovered at the earliest stages (in comparison to 5-7% in Russia). The center carries out not only medical-diagnostic activity but scientific and educational ones as well.

Today, there are two doctors of medical science and sixteen candidates of medical science, working at the center. Four thesis papers for doctor's degree and twelve for candidate's are in progress.

The collaborators of the Irkutsk diagnostic centre regularly participate in Russian and international conferences, symposiums and seminars.

For practical doctors physicians, working with the patients in other hospitals and clinics IDC prepared the third edition of the manuals, which contain the list and description of all researching and treating methods applied in the centre.

IDC is financed with three financial sources: the regional budget, OMI (Obligatory Medical Insurance), and paid activity incomes.
A patient can have free of charge service (using a quota), with AMI (Additional Medical Insurance) policy, or receive medical consultation of investigation on the commercial bases. The percentage ratio of commercial and free of charge medical services is 30 to 70 correspondently.

Irkutsk diagnostic centre:


  • 1100 visits a day and 1000 000 examinations a year;
  • modern managerial technologies (innovation management, human resource management, CALS technologies, benchmarking, marketing, reengineering of business processes, logistics, etc.);
  • control of quality with the help of TQM and ÈÑÎ 9000:2000;
  • system of standards meeting all the requirements;
  • continuous monitoring of quality;
  • three-level system of quality rating including the analysis of disease results;
  • 2 Doctors of Science, 18 Candidates of Science, 63 doctors of higher and first categories, hundred-per-cent certification of doctors and nurses;
  • elaboration and introduction of new technologies;
  • electronic records of all examinations;
  • distant medical consultations with the participation of leading specialists from Russian and world clinics;
  • efficient forming of statistical reports according to any set criteria;
